Not Unto Perdition

Initial enthusiasm of many Child of God has waned in the face of uncontrolled and unparalleled evil activities of our days. The arc enemy of our soul, the devil, has succeeded in blindfolding many from the glory ahead and they have practically forgotten the admonition of Jesus Christ meant to prepare us for this hour of darkness: “. . because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. ” (Mat.24:12). Indeed there are greater challenges ahead! Desire for pleasure, free lifestyle and general lust of pleasing the flesh are all baits in the enemy’s trap and are daily trapping many believers.
We cannot claim to be an inhabitant of Zion and continue to shadow the lifestyle of “Egypt”: the enemy will provide us an opportunity to go back! “And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.” (Heb. 11:15). The lifestyle and culture of Egypt is present in the Church but what and how you see changes the dynamics of backsliding. Patriarchs of old lived among the idol worshippers of their days, but one thing kept them going: they “. . .looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God” (Heb.11:10). For Jesus, it was the joy set before him (Heb.12:3) that energized him to endure. Where is your focus? You were not saved for pleasure and material blessings, take your eyes off them and focus on the joy set before you!

The pain of falling away is that it only leads to perdition, a state of final spiritual ruin; loss of the soul; damnation! God is never pleased with the backslider, instead he wants such a one to repent before it is too late “. . . .but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. (Heb.10:38)

Today, if you will hear his voice, “. . .for yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry” (Heb.10:37), come back to the faith that is built on better promises. Look up! your deliverance is at hand and never disappoint him who suffered, bled and died on the cross for you. Hear his passionate heart cry Today is “. . . . if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him (Heb.10:38).

Oh that you will join me this day to declare that “. . .we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul (Heb.10:39). Beloved, go all the way and never stop by the wayside, do not be slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. (Heb. 6:12)
