Intimacy With God (Part 1)

No man can fully comprehend God, but we can develop and intimate relationship with him to such a degree that he will by choice reveal his plans to us (Amos 3:7). Enoch got so closed to God that he was eventually translated to stay permanently in his presence. Abraham earned the enviable title of the “friend of God” being so close in relating with Him. Moses had a unique intimate relationship with God, so much so that God spoke with mouth to mouth Nm.12:8.

God is still interested in having such a high level of relationship with us. The big question is: Are we willing and prepared to pay the price? The presence of God is not cheap and relationship with him is equally not cheap. Moses went on a 40 days mountain encounter to secure that level of intimacy and Elijah’s consistent presence in the prayer closets got him nod for relationship with God (Js.5:17,18)

Developing intimacy with God has been made easy with the advent of the Lord Jesus Christ. He understands our challenges, our frame that we are but flesh and he is able to succour us (Heb.2:18) as we approach the throne of grace for intimate relationship with the father. It is further simplified because we can equally relate with Jesus who is the express image of the Father (Heb.1:3). Hence an intimate relationship with Jesus is equally a relationship with the Father for . . .if you have seen me, you have seen the Father (Jn.14:9B).

Today as you seek him, he will reveal himself to you “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart” (Jer. 29:13). One sure path to intimacy is to follow the footsteps of those who have successfully walked with Jesus: the Apostles.

John, the beloved has this to say: “That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ” (1 John 1:3)

Today if you will hear his voice and . . .continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine. . . . (Acts 2:42), then and only then would you have commenced your journey to intimacy with God.
