Prayer: The Key

We live in the days of methodology and philosophical arguments where spiritual matters are defined by steps and process. Whereas, the master was very explicit  when he said “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”‭‭(John‬ ‭3:8‬). The way of the Spirit cannot be codified! The man of God must report daily at the Altar for a fresh touch and daily instructions.

Jesus prayed daily (Mk.1:35) and ceaselessly to carry out the father’s assignment, we dare not do less if we must push this assignment to the class of “greater works”.  Beloved, a Church is miles apart from an organization. Ogarnizations can run purely on methods, strategies and models but not Church. The fuel that drives a Church’s engine is prayer, and lots of it! The understanding that we are not contending against flesh and blood is sufficient to drive us to our knees. “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”(‭‭Eph. ‭6:12‬).

The hymn “Christian seek not yet repose” by Charlotte Elliott presented this in the second stanza: “Principalities and powers, mustering their unseen array, Wait for thy unguarded hours; watch and pray.” We cannot afford any unguarded hours and the secret is the prayer altar. The hosts of darkness have no business with organizations and structures but rather with Church and ministries. Pray without ceasing is the master’s counsel and this is the secret of the Church since inception, we cannot do less if we must achieve a lasting result with the seal of eternal acceptance.

Church or ministries are assignment that change lives, transmit the life of God and the host of darkness will never ever sit idle whilst such work is correctly being executed. It will and should raise ferocious opposition if done in spirit and in truth. Apostle Paul had open doors and expectedly with many adversaries. (1 Cor.16:9). The secret of overcoming all such adversaries and opposition is prayer!

TODAY, if we will hear the voice of the Spirit and the father’s heart cry about the depraved condition of the altar and unwholesome state of ministry, may we respond with holy resolve to backtrack to that singular all purpose solution: Prayer!
