Evidently perilous times are here and according to scriptures divers evil activities will become common features, demonic influence will rise and men will depart from faith as a result of pressure to compromise. It’s against this backdrop that Apostle Paul said: “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. . . . .that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (Eph. 6:11,13). Admonition to keep standing here presupposes there would be spiritual and most likely physically invisible forces of darkness that are poised to not only oppose our standing but determined to displace us.

Daniel knew too well what it means to stand. He refused to eat the king’s dainties, did not allow the influence of the language and practices of the Chaldeans to shift his stand on his determination to shine the light of God. 120 princes, 2 presidents and captains of Persia were no match for the resolution of Daniel to stand for God (Dan.6:7-10). Joseph stood for God against the advances of Potiphar’s wife (Gen.39:7). The Apostles were threatened by the council of their days, they stood their ground against the authorities of their time declaring openly “For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” (Acts 4:20).

As we stand against opposing forces of darkness in other to advance the light of God, we are equally required to stand maintaining conquered ground to prevent darkness from reoccupying it. The devil is relentlessly unleashing onslaughts and the secret is to firmly keep standing, no retreat and no surrender. We are to stand as soldiers of the cross defending the finished work of Calvary maintaining and contending firmly for the faith at our duty post

TODAY, if you will hear the voice of the Spirit declaring “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” (Mt.24:13), May your passionate response be that “ . .we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to (stand until) the saving of the soul.” (Heb.10:39)
